The project was the first of its kind when unveiled which would have preserved and protected the environment and help to green the emirate of Dubai. The built up area of the project would have been 800 million Sq ft and the development would have cost USD 55 billion (AED 200 billion). As a result of the Global Financial crisis of 2007–2008, the project was put on hold in 2008.
